Explosives Engineering Specialist

Maxam North America, Inc. is seeking an Explosives Engineering Specialist. Duties will include assisting with the field testing and evaluation of explosives products; becoming trained in and assisting with customer training; computerized data transfer and reporting; training in quality assurance; assisting with troubleshooting of malfunctioning blast holes; and assisting with various analytical and monitoring activities, including muck-pile dig-ability studies.

Candidates must be able to lift over 50 pounds, work in a physically challenging environment, not be averse to extreme temperatures or weather conditions, and enjoy working outdoors. Work environment is on a blast pattern working around light and heavy equipment, working with explosives products.

Successful candidates must have a bachelors degree in mining engineering, international training including at least two months practical or university training in Europe, and must be willing to relocate indefinitely to anywhere in the world. The specialist will receive six to twelve months training in Canada, after which he/she will be relocated to a company site outside of Canada. Background in computer modeling and software applications is important; good interpersonal skills a must.

Starting salary is $52,084 per year, with standard provincial medical benefits provided for the duration of the training in Canada, in addition to possible availability of supplemental benefits. Standard provincial vacation days will also apply.
